The Ukraine is currently one of the most promising, yet simultaneously one of the most challenged, markets in the European RailTech sector. The Ukrainian railway system serves as a lifeline for a free Ukraine; however, its existing infrastructure is naturally stretched and delivers an excellent transportation performance despite the conditions of war. At the same time, European integration efforts and the overall modernization and upgrading of the railway system are well prepared and to some extent already underway.

Market access remains a significant challenge due to limited travel options, making it harder to build proximity and trust. Changing responsibilities, the wartime involvement of the railways, and strict compliance guidelines for international railway technology complicate matters further. Nevertheless, Ukraine has an established supplier base for local content required for the modernization of the Ukrainian state railway, financed by Europe and the international community as part of the wider European railway network.

"Ukrzaliznytsia" is a complex organization characterized by strong structures and multifaceted decision-making processes. Despite these complexities, there is a high level of interest in global technology and supply chains, and a readiness to localize production into Ukraine. AHP International is an established partner of the global railroad industry, particularly the German VDB, having implemented more than 10 projects on three continents with over 150 participating companies.

Based on these experiences and observations, we felt the need to contribute to closing the gap between the Ukrainian market and the global supply base.

RailConTec Ukraine cooperates with the most important international organizations and networks in Ukraine (European Business Association, AC of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, Swiss Business Hub, AmCham Ukraine).

Exchange of information with DB and other European railway companies. Lobbying for Ukraine (focus on Germany/Europe).

Exclusive in-person events twice a year alternately in Berlin and as a 'house visit' at a member company: exchange of experiences – formation of consortia – best practices – information on current business opportunities.

Networking with Ukrainian suppliers of railway technology for connection and business cooperation (consortium, joint ventures, M&A).

Individual consulting on market development. Development of tailored support concepts for the target market Ukraine. Updates annually and as needed.

Monthly online member conferences, ongoing market information on rail technology in Ukraine – in addition to the offerings of VDB and OA.

Continuous exchange with the Ukrainian State Railway, the Ministry of Finance and Transport, as well as other agencies in Ukraine.

Information on projects, tenders, and development topics. Mediation of contacts related to the railway and its value chains.

Meetings on the sidelines of industry events – InnoTrans and more – Day of Suppliers of the Ukrainian Railway, etc.

Online presence in the Ukrainian language with profiles of member companies (also as a print brochure if needed), networking and marketing in Ukraine. Transmission and, as far as possible, qualification of inquiries.

Delegation trips to Ukraine, trade fair participation, professional discussions, and other events to promote personal contacts (from online to hybrid to in-person, occasionally with additional costs, as exclusively as possible).
